Full disclosure, the person writing this is Dutch, and seeing that POP is a company based out of the Netherlands it is safe to say that at the very least I have a small preference for things out of Holland. That all being said, it is great to see your friends shine, but one of my friends who doesn’t always get seen is Jan Maarten Sneep. Still Sneep as most people call him played an integral part in making the POP video what it was. A filmer always has a personal connection to the footage they create with the skater. So, instead of a regular post when the video dropped, we decided to wait a little and have our own moment. We hit up Sneep and asked him what his 5 favorite clips were and he came back with 5+1…Enjoy!

1. Pascal Moelaert

We went to this spot to try a ledge line that we tried before, but the wind situation was not in our favor. After hanging out at the spot a little bit, Pascal started trying this, and maybe 5 tries after I got the camera out he rolled away. This has got to be the quickest clip we’ve ever gotten. It’s a pretty unexpected trick to do quickly.

*Editors Note: The song in Pascal Moelaert’s part might be the best song pick this year.

2. Billy Hoogendijk

Billy is just so fucking good, he pretty much did every possible trick at some point (scroll back on his Instagram to see what I mean). He’s not afraid to battle a trick for a couple of hours, and in the end, he will probably do it how he wants it. This one took a while, he did a couple of sketchy ones, broke his board, and then did it perfectly on Rob’s board.

3. Issey Kumatani

Issey came over from Osaka for two months to film for the video, and he absolutely killed it. You could take him everywhere and he would find his own way to skate it. This spot has been around for a while, and a Backside Noseblunt would be the dream trick to do. It is super hard to skate with the quick Ollie-up, slippery glass tiles, but he managed to do it flawlessly on one of the final days of his last trip.

4. Logan da Silva Ortiz

This was on the final filming mission in Paris early this year. We heard the spot could be a bust, so we approached it like a real mission. Warm up around the corner, and go straight for the trick. Logan did this one pretty quickly but wasn’t completely satisfied, and wanted to try more. I already thought this was a really nice clip, he pops the shit out of the switch heel, catches it nicely, and rides away with good style. Eventually, we never got kicked out and kept the one we got. I hope Logan likes it too by now.

5. Rob Maatman

I knew Rob could do these Tim O’Connor-style Switch wallie 180s and suggested he do it at this Polejam. He did it, very well.

6. Tomas de Keulenaer

This was filmed on a Paris trip in 2022 with the whole team. Tomas got the perfect trick for the spot, amazing execution, and even greater filming by Arthur Le Duc, who is not getting enough credit for his contribution to the whole video! Thanks, Arthur!
