But… instead, this is 2019 and your remote has turned into your mouse and your TV into Youtube! So grab some popcorn, gather some friends, airplay this on your big screen, click play first and then the thumbnails by using your mouse or trackpad to navigate yourselves through this wonderful experience. It’s January now and I’m losing my mind over here.” Probably driven by the same search for activity during lousy winter days Dan Schulz, the mastermind behind one the most significant Berlin Skatevideos of recent years OH SNAP, brings a documentary to the screen that deals with exactly this very topic. It reveals the ambivalence of having the winter season, while taking a look on it’s pros and cons. Experience it with and through the eyes of Paul Otvos.

We are glad to be a part of Lucas Beaufort‘s “DEVOTED” documentary about skateboard media all over the globe. Next to Roland you have MJ, Skin Philips, Steve Berra, Patrick O’Dell and many more talking about the past, the now & the future.

 

 

“PUSHED – Four Guys Inspired By A Wooden Toy” is a documentary by Florian Schneider. It premiered back in 2011 but is now finally up on the internet. Watch this interesting film and learn about Bobby Puleo, Pontus Alv, Adam Sello and Stefan Marx, and how they are all influenced by skateboarding in their own way.

When Marc Johnson, overwhelmed by his emotions, is almost moved to tears, one can already tell that this has to be something major about skateboarding. With this trailer artist and globetrotter Lucas Beaufort introduces his newest project “Devoted”, which internationally documents the guys that document skateboarding, and in this way, not least also produce the medium Lucas himself loves most to put his drawings onto.

“Since March 2016 I traveled the globe to meet the most influential skateboard media in order to know more about their vision and the future of print.
I decided to pay a tribute to people who spent their life documenting skateboarding.
Writers, photographers, skaters and brands built it all together for over 30 years now.” – Lucas Beaufort

“Exploring Cuba’s Skate Culture” is a documentary film about the difficulties the Cuban skate scene has to face but, on the other side, the immeasurable beauty this country has to offer. Follow Lucien Clarke, Andrew Reynolds, Ishod Wair and Arto Saari on a very unique trip through a very unique country.

Levi’s has a strong tradition in workwear as such it is not surprising that they support skate scene by building DIY spots. In this mini docu the Levi’s team traveled to Christchurch in New Zealand. in 2011 the town was hit by an earthquake that destroyed large parts of the city and its skate spots in the process.

Skateboarder look at things differently, just think about the urban environment with all it’s stairs, ledges or handrails – in short: spots. This kind of thinking makes many skateboarders sort of creative and so it’s no surprise, that many of us end up working in creative trades. PLAN 9 presents “Skate Trades”, a documentary that shows the connection between skateboarding and trades. What happens when you give two Dutch artists the incentive to make a behind the scene’s skate documentary? This last year Walker Pachler and Ruben van der Linden went out skating and filming non stop to make what is now known as Sander The Skatefilm.
If you are bored and want to see skateboarding represented in a way that is different from a lot of other video’s out there give their latest project a try.

Oakland, Kalifornien hat mit dem weltweit bekannten und Downhill bestücktem San Francisco als direkten Nachbarn kein leichtes Los gezogen. Nur eine Brücke trennt die beiden Städte und doch hat San Francisco immer die Nase vorne, was Popularität angeht – Oakland ist und bleibt der etwas schrägere Nachbar, aber auch das hat seinen Charme. Levi’s erzählt die Geschichte von Keith “K-Dub” Williams:

Levi’s Skateboarding präsentiert nun die gesamte Dokumentation über Pura Pura Bolivia mit den Jungs von endboss projects aus Hannover und Skatern wie zum Beispiel: Josh Matthews, Joey Pepper, Carsten Beneker und Marius Syvanen. Sehr schöne Bilder und ein unglaubliches Ergebnis.

Für die dritte Episode des Ambassador Project der Saint Archer Brewery steht niemand Geringeres als Atiba Jefferson im Fokus. Angefangen von der Magie erster Filmentwicklungen berichtet er sehr persönlich von seinem Weg aus Colorado in die Skate-Industrie und verrät dabei sogar den Schlüssel zum Erfolg. In den nächsten Tagen wird außerdem sein Leica “Let Us Roam” Feature erwartet.

Der Spot “Milano Centrale” vor dem Hauptbahnhof in Mailand ist wahrscheinlich der legendärste Streetspot Italiens. Mit seiner unzähligen Vielfalt an Möglichkeiten erlangte der Platz schnell Berühmtheit, besonders durch viele internationale Videoproduktionen wie z.B. Yeah Right, The DC Video, Hot Chocolote Tour und nicht zuletzt Pretty Sweet. Ein Ort für die Ewigkeit möge man meinen, dem folgende Dokumentation gewidmet ist.

Eric Koston ist und bleibt eine sehr gefragte Person in diesem Jahr und nun ist der neue Teil der “This Is”-Reihe des Desillusion Magazines mit dem Girl Pro erschienen. Nach dem Teaser durfte man schon gespannt sein, schließlich waren die Episoden mit Andrew Reynolds und Dylan Rieder schon überaus sehenswert.

Seit nunmehr 15 Jahren fährt Pro Skateboarder, MTV Star und Mädchenschwarm Ryan Sheckler für etnies Footwear. Für die jahrelange Treue bedankt sich sein Schuhsponsor mit einem streng limitierten Fotobuch, einem Marana Footwear und Apparel Pack, sowie einer 10-minütige Dokumenation. In dieser berichten Wegbegleiter wie Arto Saari, Atiba Jefferson oder Oliver Barton über den Werdegang des Plan B Pros.

Janne Saario, finnischer Element Fahrer, und was viel nicht wussten, Skateparkdesigner, wurde in seinem Arbeitsalltag von Filmemmacher Yves Marchon begleitet. Herausgekommen ist eine interessante Dokumentation, die zeigt wie Janne seine Ideen umsetzt, von der Planung bis hin zum Bau. Hier gibt es erstmal den Trailer, der ganze Film folgt am 28.07.
