I can’t clearly remember the moment I first heard of the Quartersnacks website and crew, but it must have been on the Slap forum. I don’t even know if I liked what I saw… Ten years ago I was 18 years old and my vision of what skateboarding was differed completely from my current day taste. Skateboarding nowadays seems to have split into a couple of different directions: from professional film makers that push skateboarding visually to the art side of skateboarding to a more Homeie type of feel. Me as a 18 year old would have disliked what I like today. I hated most older videos, I wanted to see tricks and clean styles and felt like older videos where often poorly filmed and the skating was either sketchy or it wasn’t pushing the envelope.

Off course I didn’t know shit then, but I was eating and sleeping skateboarding. I started making videos with my friends and we tried to emulate Transworld & Girl videos, which is normal when you start creating your own things… I missed the point when the Quartersnacks crew started to push their own agenda and created their own lane. When I started to frequently visit their website, the focus of the skateboard world shifted once again from the west to the east coast, skateboarding in NYC looked cool and the terrain was different from the sun filled schoolyards (cliché alert!) in Cali.

The Quartersnacks crew was a combination of “cool” pros like Spanky, Alex Olson and Zered Basset, but most of the crew consisted of more humanly skilled skateboarders skating the same terrain together. It gave me a behind the scene’s type of feeling that I really didn’t see before. I naively thought pros only skated with pros, the thought that pros have their own clique with high school friends never dawned until I started following the Quartersnacks website. Even back then QS brought out Christmas edits etc. which slowly but surely started to influence my music taste away from Bob Dylan towards Young Jeezy, Rich Homie Quan and more recently Future.

As my taste changed together with the ever changing skateboard bussiness Quartersnacks seemed to grow, they started to make clothing and did collabos with Nike (they played an important role in bringing back the Dunk), QS rose to the top… The best thing about this 10 years of Quartersnacks edit is to see that their growth lead them into Skate pop culture! I am excited what comes next. Happy Birthday!

Quartersnacks has been putting out clips like crazy lately, this one shot by Johnny Wilson of “Horny” and Paych fame. The clip features: Cyrus Bennett, John Gardner, Dom Travis, Ty Lyons, Rob Sissi, Tyler Tufty but more importantly this clip might initiate the return of the extremely oversized big white tee know to many as a as Ghetto Gown.

Quartersnacks und Nike SB bringen heute ihren gemeinsamen Nike SB Dunk Low auf den Markt. Zur Feier des Tages hat Bobby Worrest es sich nicht nehmen lassen einen neuen Full Part zu filmen, der vor kurzem online gegangen ist: Den wollen wir euch natürlich nicht vorenthalten. Civilist in Berlin, sowie der Pivot Skateshop in Köln haben die Schuhe schon im Regal – wenn auch wahrscheinlich nicht mehr lange…

Nachdem am Rathaus der Stadt Philadelphia Skateboarding untersagt wurde und die Polizei unendlich viele Tickets für Ungehorsam verteilte, gab es jahrelang Gerüchte um einen neuen Street Plaza im ähnlichen Stil der City Hall, besser bekannt als Love Park. Seit gestern ist Philly um eine besondere Attraktion reicher – dem Paine´s Skatepark. Dieser ist dem Love Park nicht nur nachempfunden, es wurden sogar echte Curbs des legendären Spots wieder aufgestellt und weitere Elemente originalgetreu nachempfunden. Wir sind bereits auf die ersten Lines von Josh Kalis gespannt.

Zwei Brüder, die es auf jeden Fall faustdick hinter den Ohren, oder wahlweise in den Füssen haben, sind die Lutheran Brothers. Beide gehen ab wie Schmitz Katze. BroSytle Representer.

Quartersnacks.com haben Peter Ramondettas Real Part geremixed. All about the benjamins, baby.

Eigentlich ist das Wetter ja viel zu schön, um vor dem Computer zu hängen, aber bei diesen Sahnestückchen schaut man doch gern mal rein. Das Supra Team war im neuen Skatepark in Austin, Texas und kamen mit soviel Footy zurück, dass sie direkt einen kleinen Clip davon basteln konnten. Neen Williams, Kevin Romar, Keelan Dadd und weitere killen den Spot.

Louie Barletta, der alte Spassvogel, macht eine Firing Line inklusive Old School Jumpramp Starter.

Von Quartersnacks gibt es noch mehr Bro-Cam Footy vom Nike Shoot in China. Sehr stylish.

Viele Kids heutzutage können nichts mit dem Namen Matt Beach anfangen, aber lasst euch gesagt sein, dass er einer der “most underrated Ripper” des frühen Jahrtausends war. Irgendwie hat er es nie bis ganz an die Spitze geschafft, obwohl sein Part aus dem Jahr 2002 unglaublich gutes und vielseitiges Skateboarding zeigt. Wer diesen Part nicht kennt, hat was verpennt.

Und wo wir gerade schon bei Legenden sind – Danny Wainwright ist immer noch aktiv auf seinem Brett. Deshalb gibt es jetzt einen neuen Clip von ihm zu sehen aus der DC Embassy. Man ist nie zu alt fürs Skaten.

Thortsen Ballhause hat beim Bergfest in Münster das 13er Rail mit einem 50-50 bezwungen. NBD, Bitch. Und Scheisse fressen kann er auch. Respekt.
